Five stages of revenue operations maturity
The RevOps Maturity Model is the framework behind this assessment. It scores your revenue engine across six dimensions and places you on one of five stages — from Beginner to Best in Class. Use it to benchmark where you are, agree on what "good" looks like, and sequence the investments that move you up a level.
Why a maturity model?
Revenue leaders are asked to grow faster with less. Without a shared framework, every quarter turns into an argument about tools, headcount, and attribution. A maturity model replaces the argument with a diagnosis: objectively where the revenue engine is strong, where it leaks, and which investment moves the number next quarter.
See how your ops stack up against B2B, B2C, and marketplace peers.
Get a weighted list of gaps ranked by impact — not vendor pitches.
Give marketing, sales, and success one score and one roadmap.
The six dimensions scored
Every stage is derived from weighted scores across these dimensions. Strong data doesn't compensate for broken process; great enablement doesn't compensate for a forecast you can't defend.
Single source of truth across CRM, MAP, CDP, and warehouse. Clean object model, consistent field governance, reliable pipelines.
Documented lead-to-cash, opportunity stages, forecast cadence, and territory rules that scale beyond tribal knowledge.
Shared definitions between marketing, sales, and success — one funnel, one set of SLAs, one revenue number.
Trusted dashboards, cohort and pipeline analytics, and a forecast the CRO defends without spreadsheets.
Reps use the system because it helps them win — not because they're told to. Training, tooling, and incentives align.
From manual reporting to AI-assisted routing, scoring, and next-best-action. Automation compounds every quarter.
The five stages
Your overall score (0–100) maps to one of five stages. Each stage has a different bottleneck — and a different next best move.
- Stage 1Score 0–20
Beginner
Foundations are missing. Quick wins will compound fast.
Ad-hoc tools, inconsistent data, no shared funnel. Fixing the basics — CRM hygiene, stage definitions, a weekly forecast — unlocks outsized gains.
- Stage 2Score 21–40
Developing
Building blocks exist but are inconsistent. Focus on standardization.
Foundational systems exist but leak. Playbooks live in slides; reporting is manual. Standardize definitions, automate handoffs, instrument the funnel.
- Stage 3Score 41–60
Growing
Solid base. Time to invest in integration and measurement.
Reliable pipeline data and repeatable motions. Invest in integration between tools, cohort analytics, and enablement so growth doesn't depend on heroics.
- Stage 4Score 61–80
Advanced
Mature operation. Optimize, predict, and automate.
Predictable forecasting, mature GTM alignment, and measured programs. Optimize for efficiency: territory design, deal desk, and AI-assisted workflows.
- Stage 5Score 81–100
Best in Class
World-class. Defend the lead with AI-native operations.
AI-native operations, real-time attribution, and self-service analytics. The RevOps team runs like a product org and defends the lead with continuous experimentation.
How your score is calculated
Each question is weighted by its impact on revenue outcomes. Section scores are the weighted average within a dimension; the overall score is the weighted average across dimensions. The result: capabilities that materially move pipeline count for more than checkbox items. You can take either a Quick Pulse (15 highest-signal questions, ~3 minutes) or the Full Diagnostic (60 questions, resumable) — both produce a stage on the same scale.
